I moved to Malaysia in March 2003 with my family. Located at south-east Asia, Malaysia is the most developed Muslim country in the world. The 25 million population consists of local Malay, Chinese and Indian people. The weather is pleasant, fairly hot and humid throughout the year. Now I'm studying at UTP ("Universiti Teknologi Petronas") in Malaysia. It's a private institution owned by Malaysia's wealthy national petroleum company "Petronas". Petronas owns the famous Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, the tallest in the world. I will hopefully achieve a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering in four years. In UTP the medium of instruction is English, but some lecturers are not good at it. The facilities in UTP are in tiptop condition, in some cases even more than the university actually needs. Our batch is the first to experience the new academic campus -a huge high-tech complex with unique architecture- in the first year. But being a newly established university, UTP has still got room for improvement in many fields. The community here is very diverse, a mixture of International and local students. There are over 4000 students from Malaysia (85%), Iran, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Sudan, South Africa, Mozambique, Equatorial Guinea, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia. I tend to mix with them easily. I've made heaps of new friends, and I've met many remarkable people. This page has been visited
